A Chic Cheval the Edinburgh Grand Elopement | Katie & Andrew

A chic and intimate elopement at Cheval the Edinburgh Grand. Shot on digital & 35 mm film. Edinburgh Wedding Photographer.

Some weddings stay with you, not just because of the location or the details, but because of how it felt. This elopement of Katie & Andrew at Cheval the Edinburgh Grand was one of those days. It was small, stylish and completely centered on love and family and I had the absolutely privilege of capturing it both digitally and 35mm film.

Only four guests were presented all close family. There was something so powerful about that simplicity but importance. No distraction, no performance, just the couple, their people and the quiet joy of saying 'I do'in a space that felt meaningful and beautifully intimate.

Cheval the Edinburgh Grand was the perfect setting. Elegant and timeless with soft, natural light pouring through tall windows and interiors that brought a sense of calm sophistication to the day.

Shooting on film and digital allowed me to tell the story in a way that felt layered and honest. The crispness of digital helped capture the details, the textures of the dress, the modern architecture, the subtle colour palette.

But the 35mm film? That added soul, it slows you down invites you to observe more carefully and adds a poetic softness to intimate moments. The grain, the tiny imperfections β€” it all brought a sense of nostalgia that felt so right for a day rooted in emotions and memory.

Paired with digital the story become both modern and nostalgic, mirroring the day’s balance between elegant style and deep, personal emotion.

What I love most was how the whole day revolved around family. Every glance between the couple and their parents, every shared laugh, every quiet pause, it was intimate in the truest sense of the word. There was this effortless to it all, a kind of calm confidence in doing things their way and I honestly think that’s the most beautiful way to celebrate love.

If you are dreaming of a wedding day that feels true to who you are β€” chic, personal and centered around what matters most β€” this is proof that you don’t need a crowd to create something unforgettable.
