Blythswood Square Hotel Wedding | High-End Black Tie Wedding in Glasgow

A Modern City Wedding Celebration in the Heart of Glasgow.

Some weddings are defined by their location, others by their atmosphere. Aneesa and Darren’s wedding was a beautiful combination of both. A sophisticated modern city celebration in the heart of Glasgow, filled with style, incredible details and genuine emotions.

As an editorial wedding photographer in Scotland, I love photographing chic and elegant celebrations at Blythswood Square Hotel, one of the city’s most iconic luxury wedding venues.

From elegant bridal preparations at the iconic Blythswood Square Hotel to a romantic ceremony at the historic Glasgow University Chapel, every part of the day reflected their vision: a refined black tie wedding that felt stylish, personal and elegant. For couples dreaming of a luxury Glasgow wedding with a contemporary feel, the city offers the perfect balance of historic architecture, beautiful interiors and unforgettable backdrops. Aneesa and Darren embraced everything that makes a modern city wedding so special — incredible venues, fashion-forward styling and a celebration surrounded by the people they love most.

Bridal Preparation at Blythswood Square Hotel.

The morning began at Blythswood Square Hotel, one of Glasgow’s most elegant luxury wedding venues, where Aneesa prepared for the day ahead surrounded by her closest friends and family.

The atmosphere was relaxed, joyful and full of excitement. Before the celebrations officially began, we took some time for beautiful bridal portraits with a subtle editorial boudoir influence. These moments were natural, playful and full of personality — a chance for Aneesa to simply enjoy being present before walking down the aisle.

Her bridal look was the perfect combination of modern elegance and timeless style. Aneesa wore a stunning gown by Ricca Sposa, sourced from Eleganza Sposa complemented by a bespoke cape veil that created a beautifully dramatic silhouette for the ceremony.

One of my favourite details was seeing how effortlessly her look transformed throughout the day. After the ceremony and portraits, Aneesa removed the cape veil for the evening celebration, creating a second bridal style that felt more relaxed and perfect for the party ahead.

Her makeup was created by a renowned luxury makeup artist Stacey Toner, while her hair was styled by her close friend and one of the most respected professionals in the industry — Jason Meacher, adding such a personal touch to the morning.

A Timeless Ceremony at Glasgow University Chapel.

The couple chose Glasgow University Chapel as the setting for their wedding ceremony — a truly beautiful and historic location within the city.

The chapel’s stunning architecture provided an elegant backdrop, combining history and romance while remaining perfectly suited to their modern wedding vision.

As Aneesa walked down the aisle, surrounded by family and friends, the atmosphere was filled with emotion. It was a beautiful reminder that while venues create the setting, it is always the people and the moments between them that create the real story of a wedding day.

Modern Wedding Portraits in Glasgow.

One of the things I love most about modern city weddings is the opportunity to combine modern elegance with the character of the city itself.

Glasgow’s architecture provides such a unique backdrop for editorial-inspired wedding photography — from historic buildings to beautiful urban spaces filled with texture and atmosphere.

For Aneesa and Darren’s portraits, we focused on creating images that felt sophisticated yet natural. Elegant poses were balanced with genuine moments, allowing their personalities and connection to come through.

An Elegant Reception at Blythswood Square Hotel.

Following the ceremony, everyone returned to Blythswood Square Hotel for an unforgettable evening reception.

The reception room was beautifully designed with elegant floral arrangements, sophisticated tablescapes and carefully considered styling that perfectly reflected Aneesa’s vision. Nothing felt excessive. Instead every detail worked together to create an atmosphere of understated elegance.

One of the highlights of the evening was undoubtedly the speeches. They were heartfelt, genuinely funny and incredibly emotional, filling the room with laughter one moment and tears the next. These are always some of my favourite moments to photograph because they capture the relationships that make every wedding unique.

Why Blythswood Square Hotel is Perfect for a Modern Glasgow Wedding.

For couples looking for a luxury wedding venue in Glasgow, Blythswood Square Hotel offers the perfect balance of elegance and contemporary style.

Its central location means your entire wedding day can flow naturally—from getting ready in luxurious suites to celebrating with family and friends, while remaining just minutes from some of Glasgow’s most iconic architectural landmarks for portraits.

Capturing Modern Editorial Weddings Naturally.

While beautiful styling and exceptional venues certainly create stunning photographs, they are only part of the story.

My approach is to document every wedding in a way that feels honest, elegant and effortless. I gently guide when needed, but never interrupt the natural rhythm of the day. The result is a collection of photographs that captures not only how your wedding looked, but how it truly felt.

Whether it’s a quiet moment while you’re getting ready, the anticipation before walking into your ceremony or the laughter shared during speeches, these are the memories that become more valuable with every passing year.

For couples planning a modern city wedding in Glasgow, a sophisticated black tie celebration or an elegant wedding at Blythswood Square Hotel, my goal is always the same: to create timeless, editorial-inspired photographs that tell your story with authenticity, style and emotion.
